A Fun Toy and Potential Cult Classic December 10, 2006 J. B. Mccord (San Diego, CA) 17 out of 19 found this review helpful
I have never purchased a Barbie product...until now. I simply couldn't resist "Barbie & Tanner". I love this! God bless America!
Does this toy teach young girls moral lessons about the responsibilities of pet ownership and the importance of cleaning up their mess? Or, is the feces-eating devil dog teaching impressionable young kids that its ok to consume their own excrement? Who knows, and who cares. I'm sure the kids will enjoy it. I bought two. I gave one to the Toys for Tots drive, and plan on keeping the other for myself.. I can't wait to show the gang at work!
From a teen-kid's point of view.. December 31, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I saw this in stores last year, and loved it. I've waited for the price to lower, but it still stood it's place. So I gave in and bought it. I didnt regret it even for a bit. I read the reviews from here, and thought, wow. Pooping dog???!!!! SO CUTE.
So i got it on my To-Buy list, and bought it with the money mom gave me. I quickly got home, and opened the box. Loved it to bits! At first, I thought that the mouth was stuck. But then i pried it open with my fingers, and the "lifting-the-tail" worked! I was so happie! Tanner has a very very soft fur. Not the kind of quality it has on Barbie's hair, but the kind of cute, fuzzy ones.
When I make Tanner eat the dog treats, the treats automatically makes a "tok!" sound, asuring me that the treat is saftely in her stomach. One thing though- When you move her head when she has treats in it, "poo" will come out. It was hilarious!
The "carpet" provided is just plain carpet. But It did'nt really suprise me. Since Mattel is, alittle Cardboard obssesed.
OKay back to Barbie-- Barbie wears a cream brown capris, purple long sleved doggie shirt in side, and a small jacket out side. She has white and blue sneakers, and her makeup is very light. Barely visible, very smooth looking. Oh ya, and she has a belt oh her capris! Very trendy! Her hair is very smooth, and light. The box comes with a pooper-scooper, Barbie and Tanner (duh) Food container, Food Bowl, Trash Bin, "carpet", Green Base ( For the trash bin and the Food Container), A yellow bear, a yellow "bone", Blue rope, and a purple ball, and tons and tons of Fun~~
I love to put the rope, or bones, or anything that is long and narrow between Tanner's mouth, and pretend that she just caught something Barbie threw for her, or even she's carrying the toy to the beach, so Barbie and play fetch with her! Anyways, I loved this dog, and it brought alot of fun-- for me, at least. I highly recommened it to everyone! Hope this Helps!!

The POOP Never Ends! May 14, 2007 Laurie Johnson (BATON ROUGE, LA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this Barbie to be part of a collection I have had for MANY years. Luckily I purchased two of them so I could open and "play" with one of them. I took the opened Barbie and Tanner to my classroom...and you guessed it...the kids loved it!! Even the boys. Now the really interesting thing is that my students are not little kids...they are high school students. I teach art at a public high school and I do bring interesting things into class to spark creativity, so having a Barbie and her dog on my desk was not all that unusual. What I did find unusual was that boys in the class would ask me if they could take it from my desk "to check it out."
I would say that this was a good purchase even if all the enjoyment I get from it is a chuckle every now and then from watching a high school football player scoop the little metal poops while trying to keep Barbie on her toes!
Best Barbie EVER November 29, 2006 J. Pedersen (Seattle) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have resigned myself to the fact that my 7 year old princess adores Barbie and other dolls of that genre. She placed this doll on her Christmas wishlist, and without really reading the reviews, I bought it for her. I received it today and am trying to decide if I actually want to give it to her, or keep it for myself. I LOVE this doll! All of my co-workers have enjoyed my delighted giggles over Barbie and her poop eating dog- and this page has had to have had at least 50 hits from my co workers and the hilarity of the reviews! Thanks for the fun, Barbie!
If it's this much fun still in the box, imagine how much fun it'll be when I can actually make the dog eat it's own poop!
Very Cool January 11, 2007 K. Proctor (West Alexandria, Ohio United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My 8 year old daughter LOVED this toy. She loves dogs and got this and barbie's friend "Teresa with her pet cat Mika" for christmas. We all had a good time laughing over the pooper scooper part and my kids think it's fantastic. The only thing would be if you have any small children this toy does come with a lot of very small pieces. But for age appropriate kids it's great.
