5 out of 5 stars Lovely Ashlyn is a collector favorite   May 13, 2007

there are tons of doll colelctors out there scrambing to get all 12 princess dolls, and in some cases, all the accessories to this series.
It has been a long time since a play-line doll series has generated this much collector interest! Ashlyn does come in two versions, a lighter and a darked verison but frankly you have to have them side by side to tell which is which as the dark one is not very dark, nor is the light one very pale.her lavender eyes are the same for both verisons and it is hard to decide which is prettier BUT I DO THINK HER LAVENDER AND PURPLE DRESS IS THE BEST OF ANY DOLL IN THE SERIES !

I bought this doll for my daughter because she loves the video and this doll shares her name. She has received more of the dolls from the video and enjoys playing with all of them. Not educational, per se, but it adds to her imagination. She loves the dresses that all of the dolls have, and she likes to have a "Princess" Ashlyn doll.

My daughters received this and all of the other 12 Dancing Princesses dolls for Christmas. They love them all. The only downfall is that some of them do not have moveable legs. They are stuck in one bent pose and makes it hard to play with them....other than dancing!

4 out of 5 stars Where is my Ashlyn?   July 22, 2007

I have been trying to get the caucasian version of this Ashlyn Barbie. It's quite expensive on ebay. I believe it's true (as another viewer wrote) that Mattel is trying to short change the USA and give the dolls to China. It's very upsetting. I did buy the Ashlyn African American doll as soon as it hit the stores. See, my daughter is named ASHLYN so I wanted one for her. I just wish I could get the caucasian one. I have only seen that one in the display at Toys R Us and they refused to sell it (of course)... oh well... unhappy me.

4 out of 5 stars Great but where is it!?   April 26, 2007

I guess this is just a gripe to Mattel; my daughter got the 12 Dancing Princesses DVD in January and just loves everything about it. Even her little brother dances around with her. So I figured I'd get her a couple of the dolls. But they are impossible to find! I'm new to this Barbie thing and this was to be one of my girl's first dolls, but apparently right after Christmas most stores clearanced out these dolls so Mattel could then bring on the Barbie Magic of the Rainbow DVD and all THOSE toys, too. I have found several of the sisters at a clearance store (in early February) but for whatever reason, I have never seen an Ashlyn or Delia doll advertised (on eBay only) as coming from anywhere but China or Great Britain, which leads me to believe Mattel is actually creating the shortage/demand for product. Which pisses me off and makes me want to swear off Barbie for good. I am not a collector, I just wanted to get my daughter some of the dolls with pretty colored dresses. And the fact that about a month or two after the DVD was released, they stopped making the dolls ticks me off, too. Heaven help me because my daughter reads the Barbie as Rapunzel book someone gave me as a hand-me-down. I don't want to cater to my kids' every whim but this is one of those cases where she would enjoy these dolls and they can't be found just a few months after the holidays.
